Scott Brown's comeback from international retirement has been confirmed after he was named in the Scotland squad to face England.

The Celtic skipper announced he was quitting international football during the summer following a frustrating season when he was hampered by injury.

But after making an impressive start to the current campaign, where he has produced his best form in the Celtic midfield in three years, Brown has decided to make himself available for Gordon Strachan's squad.

The Scotland boss has welcomed Brown's decision and insists he had no hesitation in bringing the in-form 31-year-old back into his plans.

"Scott retired in August when he was in a different place to where he is now," Strachan said.

"At that time it was beneficial for him and Celtic that he retired from international football.

"We respected that but Scott is in a different place now and feels he can help us in our quest to get to a major finals."
