Gordon Strachan says the professionalism Scotland showed in their 6-0 win against Gibraltar was phenomenal

Gordon Strachan refused to shed any light on his future as Scotland manager after his side finished their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a 6-0 win against Gibraltar.

Scotland ended their campaign on a high note but knew they could not qualify after Thursday's 2-2 draw with Poland.

The 58 year-old is now out of contract after his side's failed campaign but he insists he will talk to all the relevant people before making a decision on whether to stay in what he described as a 'fantastic job'.

He told Sky Sports: "People who know me well know how proud I am to be the Scotland manager. My family are proud of me being the Scotland manager.

"The staff are a special group to work with and it's been a special campaign.

"We are down after not qualifying but it shows we've got a special spirit in this squad that will put us in good stead for the future.

"We'll sit down and look at where we are going," he added. "If everybody is happy then I tell you what, it's a fantastic job."

Steven Fletcher says the fans drove Scotland on during their 6-0 win against Gibraltar despite not qualifying for Euro 2016

He said: "I didn't expect us to play to that tempo after the disappointment but it just shows you what I've got in there.

"To come away from home and put in a performance like that was superb.

"Gibraltar are not the best team in the world but from the first minute to the last I thought the professionalism and the respect my players showed Gibraltar was absolutely phenomenal."

After the game, Scotland's players and the management staff went over the 12,000-strong visiting support and received a standing ovation.

"There were 12,000 people out there giving us a standing ovation and we failed to qualify," Strachan added. "That's unheard of.

"That was a special occasion for me, my staff and the players. I don't think any other nation in the world can produce support like that after failing to qualify.

"I have seen some fantastic nights throughout my career and you would not think one of my best is away at Gibraltar."
