Jose Mourinho has exclusively told Sky Sports News that England have the potential to lift the World Cup in Russia next summer.
Gareth Southgate's side continued preparations for the finals in 2018 with goalless draws against champions Germany and five-time winners Brazil at Wembley.
A number of players with little experience on the international stage featured in both matches and Mourinho believes that mix of experience will stand England in good stead.
"I think England must have a chance because the players are really good," said the Manchester United boss. "There's a great generation of players at different ages and with different qualities.
"They have good experience at club level, playing in the Premier League and plenty of them play in the Champions League too.
"England have great potential to do something important."
Mourinho, however, warned England, who next play friendlies against Netherlands and Italy in March, not to expect things to all go their own way and says there are a number of other sides who could become champions.
The Portuguese added: "In South America there are a couple of important teams, in Europe the same three or four so I can't believe next summer we will have a huge surprise."

Mourinho, a Jaguar ambassador, was speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News after making a surprise visit to the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Solihull where he oversaw production of the 100,000th F-Pace.
