After England's goalless draw against Germany at Wembley, Danny Mills gave his player ratings, but who was top of the class?
Gareth Southgate handed out four debuts on Friday night, with Jordan Pickford, Joe Gomez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham all justifying their inclusion.
Here, former England defender Mills gives his verdict on a much-changed side...
Jordan Pickford - 7
Didn't have much to do other than two really crucial saves in the first half.
Kieran Trippier - 7
Did well going forward at times, and performed well in the second half. He stuck a great ball in for Vardy in the second half, where his team-mate should have scored. Looked positive, and will be challenging Kyle Walker for the permanent spot.
Phil Jones - 6
He only played 25 minutes so it seems harsh, but he did make a mistake early on, then recovered well for the clearance off the line from Leroy Sane. But from 10 minutes onwards he never looked quite comfortable since picking up the injury.
John Stones - 7
Another very steady performance, was a martial for the defence, but Germany didn't have too many chances, and hardly any in the second half. He didn't come out of defence as much as we'd like to see.
Harry Maguire - 6
He made a little mistake in the first half which could have been costly, but much of the same from Maguire.
Danny Rose - 6
I was a little bit disappointed with Rose. I know he's coming back from injury, and maybe that's why he didn't look completely sharp, and wasn't able to get up and down the pitch.
Eric Dier - 6
Solid, not particularly spectacular. He didn't do an awful lot wrong, or an awful lot to really show his prowess in all honesty. Just a nice, steady six out of 10.
Jake Livermore - 6
He was largely anonymous throughout the game, and I didn't see enough of him. He didn't get on the ball much, or get close enough to the Germans in the first half.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 8
Man of the match. Again, he found it difficult at times, but a young lad on his debut, he was confident. He tried a couple of nutmegs and turns, and always wanted the ball. He was England's most creative player, without a shadow of a doubt.
He can provide something a bit different for England. England don't have the creativity that Germany had. With Ozil, Gundogan and Co turning and playing balls forward quickly, breaking the lines. Loftus-Cheek, is he similar to Dele Alli? Possibly, but you need options and back-up.
I think he's playing well in a struggling side, remember he hasn't been on the winning side this year yet, because the game Palace won, he was ineligible. Games like tonight, playing against a world class side, will do him the world of good.
He has all the attributes. He has great technical ability, a good range of passing, he's tall, he's strong, with pace and power. There's no reason, if he has a really good season, that he can't be on the plane to Russia.
Jamie Vardy - 6
He had a one-on-one chance, perhaps it's harsh to criticise him because the ball was bouncing and spun away from him, but he had a good chance with the header in the second half. Two glorious opportunities.
Tammy Abraham - 6
I think early on he maybe found it a little bit difficult, perhaps one or two nerves go to him, but he'll learn an awful lot from that. He was unlucky that his deflected shot off Rudiger looped over the bar, agonizingly.
Subs
Joe Gomez - 7
Gomez didn't have an awful lot to do, he just went through the game nice and steady for a solid debut.
Marcus Rashford - 6
He's good at getting in the pockets, but from the moment Rashford came on unfortunately Germany just dominated the ball.
Other subs
Ryan Bertrand and Kyle Walker provided some zip and pace down the wings, but didn't have much time to impress. Jesse Lingard's one and only contribution was to blaze over with a fine chance at the death. He should have scored.
