Jack Butland has been recalled to the England squad for the forthcoming matches against Scotland and France, according to Sky sources, but Wayne Rooney is set to miss out.
Rooney, who came on in the 90th minute of United's 2-0 victory over Ajax in Stockholm, was left out of Gareth Southgate's last 26-man squad for the games against Germany and Lithuania in March.
And having not been named on Southgate's provisional list of names, the Manchester United man is expected to miss the World Cup Qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park on June 10, as well as a friendly against France in Paris three days later.
Rooney is England's record goalscorer with 53 goals, but he lost his place in the United first team to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the start of the season and he is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Sky Sports News HQ understands the England medical team were to speak with the Manchester United medical team following the conclusion of Wednesday's Europa League final to discuss the fitness of their England players.
But one man who appears set for inclusion is Stoke goalkeeper Butland, who has not featured for England since suffering a serious ankle injury in the 3-2 friendly victory over Germany in March 2016.
The Stoke goalkeeper, 24, spent the next 12 months on the sidelines as a result of that injury, but returned towards the end of the 2016-17 season and kept two clean sheets in his five outings for Stoke.
Butland became England's youngest ever goalkeeper when he made his debut at the age of 19 in the 2-1 friendly win over Italy in 2012.
