Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is set to be named in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania.
England travel to Dortmund to face Germany in a friendly at Signal Iduna Park on March 22 before hosting Lithuania at Wembley in their World Cup 2018 Group F qualifier four days later and the 19-year-old will be part of the squad which Southgate names on Thursday afternoon.
It was thought Rashford would be part of the U21 group in preparation for the European Championships this summer, but Southgate needs him for the senior squad due to a number of injuries to attacking players.
On Tuesday Tottenham confirmed that Harry Kane has sustained ligament damage and have not put a timescale on his recovery. He missed 10 games in the autumn with a similar injury but Spurs are hopeful it is not as severe this time around.
Wayne Rooney will miss United's Europa League tie with FC Rostov on Thursday through injury, while Daniel Sturridge has not played since February 4 due to illness and a knee injury.
Rashford, who has scored seven goals in all competitions this season, has mostly been deployed from the bench by Jose Mourinho but started in United's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup on Monday.
Roy Hodgson handed Rashford his England debut against Australia in May last year, in which the forward scored, before including him in the Three Lions squad for Euro 2016 where he made two substitute appearances.
