England goalkeeper Joe Hart believes interim boss Gareth Southgate's calm demeanour has made the players feel comfortable during his time in charge of the national team.
Southgate has delivered two wins and a draw since taking the reins and will oversee the final game of his temporary stint when Spain visit Wembley on Tuesday.
When asked what working under Southgate had been like, Hart said: "It's been really enjoyable.
"He's really, really cool and calm - it's no act - and that transferred to the players and we feel comfortable.
"Like he said, we're trying to express ourselves as a team and find an identity. It's really difficult for an international manager to do that I think, because you get such little time together and we're very new.
"But I feel we've got a really good squad in terms and wanting to learn and work for each other and that came forward on Friday (against Scotland) and hopefully again on Tuesday night."
Hart also praised captain Wayne Rooney for making it easy for other leaders to emerge within the group.
Jordan Henderson will wear the captain's armband against Spain, with Southgate confirming Rooney would not have started even if the Manchester United man was not a fitness doubt.
Hart added: "I think we've got some really important players from their club teams and it's about encouraging them to be brave enough.
"I think it's a really good environment that we work in, and with Wayne being our captain - he's such a team man and so encouraging for all the other players - he doesn't smother or swamp or want it all to be about him, so he makes it easier for the other players to come forward.
"When people like Jordan or Gary (Cahill) captain the team I think they feel comfortable that they've got help from all different angles.
"I'm really looking forward to the game. It's always special to play Spain - they're a fantastic footballing nation.
"It's always good to really test yourself against the best and we're definitely going to be doing that on Tuesday and I'd like to think that they're going to be preparing for the game and they're going to be excited about coming to Wembley and playing against England."
