Sky Sports News HQ's Andy Burton and Nick Collins bring you the latest from the England camp as Gareth Southgate's side prepare to face Malta.

Collins joins Burton for an insight into the talking points at St George's Park this week, with a close eye on the mentality of the England senior side after an eventful fortnight.

Wayne Rooney remains a 'key player' for England, says John Stones

Collins said: "You did get a real sense yesterday that Southgate was a man completely at home, this was his environment. He's been based here for some time, there's plenty of players on that training pitch that he has brought through.

"You also got a feeling that he believes he can take this job on full-time."

Southgate's England go to Slovenia on Tuesday night, before November games at Wembley against Scotland and Spain.

The Football Association has confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ it will not begin the recruitment process for a new England manager until after the friendly match against Spain in November.
