Gary Neville has slammed a report that claimed England's Euro 2016 campaign was undermined by friction between him and Roy Hodgson.

The Observer on Sunday claimed assistant coach Neville and Hodgson had a series of disagreements during the tournament before England bowed out in the last-16 against Iceland on Monday.

It suggested Hodgson's training methods were one source of the disagreements, while England's players had been confused by messages over tactics and positional play.

One source told the newspaper that the players bonded well during the tournament, but that there had been friction between the coaches.

The Observer makes it clear that there is respect between the parties, but that Neville and goalkeeping coach Dave Watson had disagreements with Hodgson.

Hodgson departed from the role straight after the defeat by Iceland in Nice, with Neville and fellow assistant Ray Lewington.
