England forward Harry Kane has rubbished claims he is fatigued after a long season with Tottenham

Harry Kane insists he is not suffering from fatigue and says the England squad are calm and focused about being in the supposed more difficult half of the draw at Euro 2016.

England face Iceland in the last 16 in Nice on Monday, but their second-place finish in Group B means they occupy the same half of the draw as hosts France, Spain, Italy and Germany.

Kane's performance in the group games, which saw him withdrawn at half-time against Wales and then dropped against Slovakia, led some to suggest the Tottenham forward is tired after a long domestic season, but the 22-year-old says he is fresh and ready to play Iceland.

"I'm not tired. I've had it before," he said. "A lot of people spoke last year and said the same thing when I was with England U21s.

"I'm 100 per cent fresh, I feel sharp, I feel ready - if called upon I'll be out there giving it 110 per cent."

Victory over Iceland would see England play either France or the Republic of Ireland in the quarter-finals, with Spain, Italy, Germany or Slovakia waiting in the semis, but Kane says Roy Hodgson's squad are not daunted by whatever the tournament throws at them.

"We're pretty calm. There's been a lot of talk about being on this side of the draw and who we could face but we're a confident bunch of players," he added.

"If you're going to win a major tournament you are going to have to play some of the best teams so we're calm and focused on Iceland."

Iceland are likely to follow Russia, Wales and Slovakia in defending deep with men behind the ball against England and Kane says it is up to him and his team-mates to find a solution.

"That's something we're going to have to deal with. A lot of teams see the way we play and the players we've got and try to defend to the best of their ability.

"What we've seen of Iceland, that's what they like to do and hit teams on the counter-attack, but if we want to progress and go far we'll have to deal with that and perform on the pitch.

"We fancy ourselves against anyone, we're very confident in our ability."
