It was disappointment for England in their opening game at Euro 2016 as Russia scored a last-gasp equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw and a share of the spoils in Group B.
Vasili Berezutski's stoppage time header cancelled out Eric Dier's 73rd minute free-kick as England failed to win yet another European Championship opener.
But how did Roy Hodgson's men fare at the Stade Velodrome? Who looked good and who let themselves down?
We asked former England caretaker manager Peter Taylor to rate each player out of 10...
Joe Hart - 6
He didn't have too much to do but I wasn't too convinced by some of the things he did do. There was a poor pass to Smalling which put the centre-half under pressure. Maybe I'm being harsh but it's a six for Hart.
Kyle Walker - 8
Walker was outstanding. He got forward at every opportunity and played exactly right for the system Hodgson chose. Positionally he didn't put a foot wrong.
Danny Rose - 8
It was the same with Rose. Another outstanding performance both going forward and in defence. Berezutski climbed above him for the goal but there wasn't much that Rose could do. It was a bit of a mismatch at the far post.
Gary Cahill - 7
On the whole Cahill did well. It was a solid performance but to be fair Russia didn't pose much of a threat. They had one big striker in Artom Dzyuba but Cahill, and Smalling, should be able to deal with that!
Chris Smalling - 7
Like Cahill, Smalling had a decent game. I'd like to see the goal again though as I think one of Smalling and Cahill should have peeled off to the far post to help Rose out.
Eric Dier - 9
The Tottenham midfielder was my man of the match. He came up with the crucial goal with a wonderful free-kick but he also did his job of shielding the defence extremely well. He showed his worth to England with that performance.
Dele Alli - 8
He didn't do much wrong. He's set a standard for himself though with some of his recent performances and he will be looking to improve further in the games coming up.
Wayne Rooney - 8
It was a bit of a gamble from Hodgson to play Rooney in midfield but the captain was outstanding. His passing was brilliant and he made England tick while he was on the pitch. He was always available for the ball and he worked extremely hard.
Raheem Sterling - 8
The Manchester City forward put in a terrific performance. He looked to go forward at every opportunity, putting in a tremendous shift over on the left flank.
Adam Lallana - 8
Another player who put in a strong showing. The Liverpool midfielder showed tremendous work-rate on the right flank and was a constant threat to the Russia defence.
Harry Kane - 6
Kane put in a disappointing performance. He didn't look quite right for me and that's a big disappointment.
SUBSTITUTES
Jack Wilshere - 7
I thought Wilshere looked excellent when he came on. Hodgson's desperate for him to be fit to play 90 minutes so that he can start him. Unfortunately that's not the case at the moment otherwise I think he would be in the starting line-up. He showed real quality.
James Milner - 6
Brought on to help England close the game out, Milner was neat and tidy for the short time he was on the pitch.
