World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta has been unveiled as the new manager of Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos.
Zambrotta replaces Roberto Carlos, who helped Delhi reach the play-offs last season before returning to Real Madrid to become part of Zinedine Zidane's backroom staff.
Delhi were linked with a number of high-profile candidates for the vacant managerial position in the Indian capital, including ex-Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara and former Barcelona pair Carles Puyol and Rivaldo.
But they have plumped for former Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona player Zambrotta, who earned 98 international caps for Italy, helping them win the FIFA World Cup in 2006.
The 39-year-old could pit his managerial wits against another member of the 2006 squad in India, if as expected, Marco Materazzi continues as manager of Chennaiyin FC.
Zambrotta spent a year in charge of Swiss side Chiasso following his retirement from football in 2014.
Last season, Dynamos became the first Indian side in history to loan a player directly from the Premier League after signing former West Brom and current Peterborough forward Adil Nabi on a short-term deal.
A star-studded line-up also saw player-boss Carlos take to the field alongside ex-Chelsea winger Florent Malouda and former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise, who announced his retirement from football last month.
