Liverpool and Tottenham will meet in an all-English Champions League final on June 1st, but can fans get hold of tickets and can they get to Madrid? Five key questions answered here.
1. How do I get to Madrid?
FLIGHTS
From London airports, easyjet £1487 return (flights only) with one night stay on the Saturday of the final.
British Airways came in at £1284. Many Liverpool fans will inevitably have to fly via Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
Over the coming weeks though, many more cost-effective charter flight options are going to appear. Thomas Cook Sport have been appointed by Liverpool to provide charter options.
On the scheduled flight front, there are also lots of options to explore going via Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, Vienna, Geneva, Milan, Rome, Barcelona and Lisbon - prices are rising though.
BY ROAD
Travelling by road - it will take time!!!
Tottenham fans from London will face a 1075 mile journey, taking approximately 18 hours.
For Liverpool fans that goes up to 1295 miles, a 22-hour journey.
Remember to book Channel Tunnel or cross channel ferry.
Once at Calais, take the A16 out of the town, then onto A28, A10, A63 which takes you past Bordeaux and Biarritz and over the border into Spain. Then take the E5, the AP-1 and A1 into Madrid.
BY TRAIN
Liverpool fans will need to get to Kings Cross/St Pancras Eurostar in London. Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord, metro across the city to Gare de Lyon for the TGV to Perpignan and then change for a train to Madrid.
That'll take close to 13 hours and cost around £500 return. Or TGV from Paris to Barcelona and then change for Madrid, but that takes over 15 hours.
BY FERRY
Ferry is challenging - there are crossings from the UK to Spain, but the options are few. Portsmouth to Santander on the TUESDAY before the Final and then return to the UK not from Santander, but Bilbao to Portsmouth. BUT you can't sail until Tuesday June 4! That'll cost £700-750, on top you'll need to drive or get a train to Madrid.
2. Can I get a match ticket?
Liverpool have an allocation of 16,613 tickets. Tottenham's allocation has not been confirmed yet, but it won't exceed 17,000 according to UEFA.
Prices range from Category 4 cheapest of £60 to Cat 1 at £513.
UEFA are allocating 31 pairs of wheelchair and personal assistance tickets per club, charging £60 and also another 25 pairs also at £60 each for 'Easy access'.
The Metropolitano capacity is 68,000. So the remaining 34,000 tickets will go the wider 'UEFA football family', so that's sponsors and worldwide ticket sales.
3. Where can I stay? How much will it cost?
It's not cheap.
Madrid City Centre Hotel, £2168 per night.
AirBnB in the City Centre, £745 per night.
City Centre hostel, one bed, £700 per night.
Camping is an option, there are at least five sites just outside the greater Madrid area with easy options to get into the stadium by train. Minimum of two nights, but 33-43 euros per night.
Another option is staying well outside Madrid. Salamanca is 140 miles west of Madrid. There are still lots of hotel rooms varying from £54 to £150 per night.
4. Where else can I watch the match?
UEFA are planning on having two Fan Zones in Madrid. Last year many Liverpool fans became familiar with the fan zone in Kiev.
There will also be a Champions Festival in a couple of city centre areas, these are aimed at general football fans, not necessarily Liverpool or Spurs.
No information yet from Tottenham or Liverpool regarding big screens at Anfield and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium showing the game.
5. When is the Final and what time is kick-off?
This is one of the most answered questions on 'Google Trends' on Thursday so here is the answer:
Saturday June 1, kick off 9pm local time, 8pm in the UK.
