Greater Manchester Police will have an increased number of officers in the city centre and around the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City's Champions League quarter-final tie versus Liverpool.
GMP's original policing plan for the second leg fixture was reviewed last week and the decision has been made to increase the number of officers around Manchester on Tuesday.
Liverpool lead 3-0 going into the fixture after their win in the first leg at Anfield last Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Dean Howard, match commander, said: "This Tuesday (10 April) Manchester City will be hosting the Champions League quarter final against Liverpool Football Club.
"As part of this policing operation, we will have an increased number of officers around the stadium as well as in the city.
"As with all high-profile games such as this, we have also carried out intelligence gathering beforehand and will continue to work with both clubs and supporter groups to ensure all fans can enjoy the match in a competitive but safe environment.
"Our officers are experienced in policing significant football fixtures and anyone who commits an offence will be dealt with appropriately.
"We know the vast majority of supporters will take this opportunity to enjoy watching two world-renowned teams in a world-class city."
