Frank Lampard was left "shell-shocked" with the performance his Derby side produced to knock out Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
In just his first season in management, Lampard outwitted his former boss Jose Mourinho as goals from Harry Wilson and Jack Marriott earned a 2-2 draw before the Rams won 8-7 on penalties.
The result sends Lampard's men through to the last 16 as they heaped more misery on United, whose stuttering start to the season continued.
"I'm a bit shell-shocked, in a good way," Lampard told Sky Sports.
"What a performance from the team, in terms of personality. To go 1-0 down early on, at Old Trafford, to play the way they did and to control large elements of the game.
"To have missed chances when you feel we had a chance to get back into the game and then to concede six minutes into injury time. But they had the personality to stand up and take penalties and perform the way they did, I'm just a proud manager. They were great.
"I wanted to bring a team here to really compete, I knew we had players on the bench who could come on and improve us, and I'm just so proud of them. The feeling I got from it was immense. It's an incredible feeling for me, and it's right up there."
Wilson rivalled free-kick efforts from David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford, as his 30-yard swerving strike into the top corner left Sergio Romero stranded.
"He does it in training and funnily enough, when we got the free-kick, I turned around to the bench and said it was a bit too far out," Lampard said of the on-loan Liverpool midfielder.
"It certainly proved me wrong. But I was right behind it. He got the movement and it's typical of him and Mason Mount. They practice, they're hungry, they want to be great free-kick takers, and they want to be great Premier League players in the end.
"They're on that road, and what they've given us today in terms of their energy and youthfulness and quality on the ball, linking between the lines, and having the bravery to get on the ball in tight areas at Old Trafford is not easy. Both of those young lads are going to go a long way."
