Newcastle will travel to four-time winners Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabao Cup while Brighton face south coast rivals Southampton in the only all-Premier League tie.
Forest met Newcastle at the same stage of last season's competition, the Championship side claiming a 3-2 victory after extra-time at St James' Park.
The 13 Premier League teams who are not in Europe join the competition in this round, with Leicester City drawn against Jamie Vardy's former side Fleetwood and Everton at home to Rotherham.
Elsewhere in the northern section, Huddersfield are away to Stoke and Burton play Aston Villa, who have won this competition five times. Sheffield Wednesday's reward for Thursday night's win at Sunderland is a home tie against Wolves.
The meeting of south coast rivals Brighton and Southampton is one of the eye-catching draws in the southern section, and there is also a London derby as AFC Wimbledon host West Ham.
Exeter City's prize for beating Ipswich is a trip to Fulham, and fellow League Two side Milton Keynes travel to Bournemouth, with 2013 winners Swansea at home to Crystal Palace.
