Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres showed off his footwork against Tottenham in their International Champions Cup clash

Fernando Torres rolled back the years as Atletico Madrid beat Tottenham in the International Champions Cup on Friday.

Having been written off during the latter stages of his career, the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has experienced something of a renaissance since returning to his boyhood club on loan last year.

Having helped Atleti reach the Champions League final last season, the Spaniard has been rewarded for his fine performances with a new one-year deal, and he is clearly in buoyant mood as three Spurs will now be able to testify.

With 11 minutes of their pre-season encounter in Melbourne remaining, Torres showed great close control to escape the clutches of Spurs captain Ryan Mason and academy products Dominic Ball and Marcus Edwards.

So annoyed with Torres' sublime skill, Mason was forced to cynically hack the striker down before he inflicted anymore damage on his purposeful run.

It was a sight which defences in England feared not too long ago. Hit the video at the top of the story to see Torres in all his glory...
