Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says Sevilla defeat 'will not affect us'

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane admitted he had one eye on the Champions League final after his side were beaten 3-2 by Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Goals from Wissam Ben Yedder and Miguel Layun had given Sevilla a commanding half-time lead.

Sergio Ramos took centre stage after the break, missing a penalty and scoring an own goal before he scored Real Madrid's second goal from the spot to add to Borja Mayoral's 87th-minute header.

Zidane made seven changes for the game, with Cristiano Ronaldo injured and Gareth Bale suspended, and the Frenchman said: "Do you think we came here to lose?

"All the players I have are worthy of playing time and sometimes some have to rest. We have a final to play on May 26 and no matter what people think, I'm the coach and it's me who decides.

"This defeat will not affect us. We are disappointed but we will get back to work and we have a match on Saturday."

Sevilla's interim head coach Joaquin Caparros hailed the "quality, speed and talent" of his side.

Caparros, who was taking charge of his second game following the dismissal of Vincenzo Montella, was delighted with the win and said: "We didn't get off to the best of starts, but the team has quality, speed and talent.

"What is important is the three points. Tonight we have to enjoy it," he told a post-match press conference.

"Guido Pizarro had a great game, he is an outstanding player. Roque Mesa also, Clement Lenglet, Wissam Ben Yedder...the list goes on. We have an extremely talented team.

"Whoever comes out has to give it their all and if they don't we look to the Academy where we have players who always do the job.

"Tonight's coming together with the fans has been spectacular. We have to keep going, step-by-step."
