Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says he will not rush Cristiano Ronaldo back from injury.

Ronaldo has not played since suffering the knee injury that forced him to be substituted in the European Championship final.

He has been on holiday as Real have been competing in the International Champions Cup.

Zidane has already said that Ronaldo will not take part in the UEFA Super Cup clash with Sevilla on August 9, and his participation in the La Liga opener on August 21 could also be in doubt.

"Right now he still has his injury," said Zidane after Real's 1-0 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

"Obviously he wants to be back but we need patience and for him to be calm. He will be back with us soon in Madrid."

But Zidane said: "Overall I am very happy with what we have done this pre-season and the work we have done."

James Rodriguez started against Bayern and Zidane was again asked about the Colombian's future after the match.

"I'm happy with his performance, happy to have him here with the team playing his first 45 minutes along with players like Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos, getting rhythm," said Zidane.

"[James] is here with us and, as our team will keep working, we will look to get better as a team."
