Zinedine Zidane was delighted with his side's performance as Real Madrid moved within a point of Barcelona at the top of La Liga, but insists they are taking it one game at a time.

Karim Benzema, Isco, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo were all on the scoresheet in a 5-1 demolition job away to lowly Getafe on Saturday, and Zidane was quick to praise his players.

"We're doing our work and the players know that La Liga is important," he told the club's website. "Tonight we're going to sleep just one point behind the leaders. The most important thing is the work we're doing and not to look beyond that. We are only ever looking to the next match.

"Yesterday I said I was concerned, and the players went out on the pitch and did what they had to do, and they did it very well.

"We're getting closer to La Liga all the time and I'm happy with how everyone is working. We know that if we're going to achieve something, we have to believe we can do it. From the start today, we showed that we wanted to play a good match, and everyone played their part.

"We all had a fantastic game, we took it seriously and respected our opponents. Now we have to move forward. We've won nothing, just one game."

Although there were impressive performances all over the pitch, Zidane picked out two players in particular for praise.

Rodriguez and Isco have impressed all season, and were both in the goals on Saturday afternoon.

"I'm really pleased," the Frenchman said. "It wasn't easy because they didn't play against Wolfsburg. The important thing is that when they play, they play brilliantly. I'm happy with their work, with their goals and with all the players in general."
