Sevilla have moved quickly to replace Arsenal-bound defender Sebastien Squillaci by signing Alexis Ruano from Valencia.
The 25-year old has switched allegiances for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £4.1million, subject to a medical.
The defender is expected to put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract at the Mestalla ahead of the start of the new Primera Liga season which kicks off next weekend.
Ruano, a former Spain U21 international moved to Valencia from Getafe in 2007 making 62 appearances during a three year spell where he failed to establish a regular place.
The Rojiblancos had agreed to sell France defender Squillaci to Arsenal subject to a medical on Sunday.
Sevilla host Portugal's Braga in the second leg of a Champions League playoff on Tuesday, needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit.
