Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was left to rue his side's mistakes as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League.
Barcelona took the lead through Lionel Messi after 21 minutes but a loose pass from Sergio Roberto allowed Ilkay Gundogan to equalise for City just before half-time.
City dominated after the break and went ahead thanks to a sensational free-kick from Kevin De Bruyne before a second goal from Gundogan sealed victory in front of a delirious Etihad crowd.
"We played 40 spectacular minutes, but we committed a key mistake and that hurt us because we are not machines," said Enrique.
"I think it was one of the best 40 minutes we've played. After the error for the first goal, from thereon, we had a bad time. We didn't have as much of the ball and City took advantage of our errors.
"They have top-quality players and we couldn't control the game in the same way. The result reflects that."
Barcelona remain top of Group C with nine points but City have now closed to within two points of the La Liga side, with Borussia Monchengladbach a further three points back following their 1-1 draw with Celtic.
Enrique admitted his had suffered an off-night but remained positive about his side's ability to bounce back and seal their progress to the last 16.
"We have caused more errors than we usually make. Now the group is still open and the goal is to win the remaining two games," he added.
"When you lose it is not the time to talk about the missing players [Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta], but those who are in the field. You are forgetting that the opposition also plays.
"It is not surprising, or nothing strange. It doesn't just happen to Barcelona. That's football. There is no tactical issue, nothing that needs to be changed."
