Luis Suarez was Barcelona's most valuable player in their title-winning campaign, and is now being mentioned as much as Lionel Messi, says David Moyes.
The Uruguay international's hat-trick in the 3-0 win at Granada sealed a 24th La Liga title for the Catalan club, finishing a point ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
Suarez took his final tally to 40 in La Liga and 59 in all competitions with the Copa del Rey final to come on May 22, and Moyes says the former Liverpool man has stepped up to the plate.
"He's the MVP. He's really stepped it up," Moyes told Sky Sports. "We're just beginning to mention Suarez's name as much as Messi at the moment.
"Messi has been the finest player I've seen and we've been lucky to see him in this generation, but I think Suarez has come of age in this team.
"He keeps improving; he's improved at every club he's gone too. When you join the big clubs I think the players want to test you.
"They say 'come on, if you play for us you're going to have to show us what you can do'. I think Suarez has certainly done that."
Suarez has more than doubled his tally from his first term at Barcelona, and has also improved his all-round play as Luis Enrique's side claimed a second straight La Liga crown.
Moyes once again praised Suarez's impact both in scoring and creating, and says his three goals in the title-clinching win summed up his season.
"For the goals he was fantastic, his movement, his attitude to get into the box, I think it made the difference.
"The big players turn up when it's needed and Luis Suarez has turned up in all the games, but especially recently when they needed him.
"Today he was on the spot, all-round he's been terrific."
