European Paper Talk: Atletico Madrid willing to sell Antoine Griezmann?

European sides cannot strengthen their squads until January, but that does not stop deals from being struck and contracts being agreed ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window.

Spain

Atletico Madrid may be willing to sell Manchester United and Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann. The Spanish side have reportedly grown frustrated with the 26-year-old's current form, which has yielded just two goals in La Liga this season.

Griezmann was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer but stayed at Atleti, who would not have been able to source a replacement due to their transfer ban. The France international's release clause will be reduced from €200m (£176m) to €100m (£88.2m) for a brief period this summer. (AS)

Barcelona have made Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt their number one transfer target. The 18-year-old has been identified as Barca's ideal defensive target, but will wait until the summer before making their move. (Mundo Deportivo)

Brazilian side Flamengo have told Real Madrid and Barcelona it will take a bid of at least €30m (£26.4m) to sign teenage sensation Lincoln. The 16-year-old caught the eye at the U17 World Cup, scoring three goals for Brazil and, although he has limited experience at senior level, he is tipped to become one of his country's future stars. Seventeen-year-old Flamengo forward Vinicius Junior is already Madrid-bound next summer and his team-mate looks set to trigger a transfer tug-of-war between the El Clasico rivals. (Marca)

France

A new documentary has revealed that Barcelona were 'hours' away from signing Kylian Mbappe. The former Monaco star was poised to make the switch to Catalonia in a swap deal that involved Turan going the other way, but Paris Saint-Germain swooped to secure the 18-year-old's signature as his plane to take him to Barcelona was left waiting on the runway. In another botched transfer, Barcelona's move for PSG playmaker Angel Di Maria fell apart on transfer deadline day after failing to meet the €80m (£70m) asking price. The French side were keen to sell the Argentine to keep within UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations after breaking the bank to bring in Neymar. (RMC)

Germany

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has endorsed the club signing a young, up-and-coming coach as his successor. The 72-year-old has instantly transformed the Bavarian club's fortunes after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti until the end of the season. There is no prospect of Heynckes remaining beyond then but he has given his blessing for the club to pursue one of the Bundesliga's managerial prospects, with Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann and former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel heavily linked. Italy

Inter Milan beat the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Monaco to the signing of Facundo Colidio in the summer. The teenage forward signed a three-year contract at the San Siro after impressing at Boca Juniors, and it looks as though Inter fought off competition from several European rivals to sign one of Argentina's brightest prospects. Napoli are lining up a surprise swoop for veteran striker Fabio Quagliarella. The 34-year-old has been in excellent form this season for Sampdoria, scoring seven goals and notching three assists in 12 appearances. And his purple patch has not gone unnoticed in Naples, who view him as the ideal back-up for first-choice forward Dries Mertens while Arkadiusz Milik recovers from long-term injury. (Il Mattino)

Liverpool and Juventus target Stefan De Vrij will be allowed to leave Lazio for €25m (£22m). Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini revealed that Lazio will aim to tie the Netherlands international down to a new deal which would see him become one of the highest-paid players in the team, but interest from several European clubs may stop the defender from putting pen to paper. Czech Republic

Roma centre-forward Patrick Schick admits he harbours ambitions of playing for either Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future. The 21-year-old signed for Roma in the summer, but concedes he wants to play for a more elite club. "Money? I take it as motivation, and I hope that in a few years I can move to an even bigger club where logically I'll be paid even more-that motivation has always helped me a lot," he said. "It's not really possible to move much higher (than Roma) but there are a few clubs...let's say Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United." (Reporter Magazin)

Turkey

Tottenham are preparing an £8.8m bid for Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan, who has impressed in the Turkish Super Lig this season. (Fotomac)
