Sevilla climbed into the top half of the La Liga table after beating nine-man Valencia 1-0 on Sunday.

Valencia saw Joao Cancelo sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the first half, and Sevilla took full advantage when Sergio Escudero netted in the 50th minute.

And it got worse for the away side as they ended the game with nine men after Javi Fuego received a second caution late on.

Elsewhere, an Aritz Aduriz hat-trick for Athletic Bilbao saw them win 3-0 at Rayo Vallecano and rise to seventh in the league.

Aduriz struck in the first minute, added a penalty midway through the first half and grabbed his third on the hour mark, before Bilbao saw Aymeric Laporte dismissed a few minutes later for a straight red card.
