Pig's head flies at Figo - Barcelona 0-0 Real Madrid - November 2002

The trip to the Nou Camp in November 2002 was not Luis Figo's first visit to his former stadium since donning the white of Real Madrid, but the image of a shower of bottles raining down from the stands made it the most memorable.

Figo decided to take up corner duties during this otherwise uneventful 0-0 draw, and was met by beer cans, cigarette lighters and even a glass whisky bottle.

But the defining image was of a suckling pig's head, aimed at the Portuguese winger, and only Javier Saviola has dared to move from Barcelona to Real Madrid since.

Messi magic - Barcelona 3-3 Real Madrid - March 2007

In the Argentine's breakthrough season, Lionel Messi brought Barcelona back level three times in this dramatic 3-3 draw, including a sublime injury-time equaliser.

Ronaldinho had claimed earlier in the season that the Brazilian was not the best in the world, and not even the best at the club. His words were ringing true at the Nou Camp as Messi gave Real Madrid a sign of things to come for the next decade.

Real had the last laugh, however, claiming an unlikely La Liga crown under Fabio Capello.

Brilliant Barca - Real Madrid 2-6 Barcelona - May 2009

Pep Guardiola's first season in charge of Barcelona yielded an historic treble, changing the course of El Clasico history and starting a period of Catalan dominance.

Real had taken the title race into May by winning 17 and drawing one of their 18 league matches since the previous Clasico, but in the Bernabeu they were thrashed.

A 6-2 win for Barca, including a brace for both Messi and Thierry Henry, went down in history, but more was to come...

Pep's pinnacle - Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid - November 2010

The low point of Jose Mourinho's three-year tenure at Real coincided with Guardiola's most impressive performance.

The 5-0 thrashing is seen as one of the best team performances of this century, and Lionel Messi's curious absence from the scoresheet goes some way to justifying that tag.

Real lost their discipline late on, with eight bookings and a sending off for Sergio Ramos, and Mourinho walked off into the night a beaten man.

Barcelona's five-goal thrashing of Real Madrid in 2010 was a landmark performance for Pep Guardiola

Jose's revenge - Barcelona 0-1 Real Madrid - April 2011

It was by no means a classic, but Mourinho denied Guardiola a shot at a second treble in three years and gained some salvation during a stint at the Bernabeu which yielded just one league title and this Copa del Rey crown.

Cristiano Ronaldo headed Angel Di Maria's stunning left-wing delivery back across goal and into the top corner, and Real's embarrassment five months earlier was momentarily forgotten.

Jose Mourinho won his first trophy for Real Madrid, as Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the only goal in the 2011 Copa del Rey final

"I came here to do a job and change the mentality of the club. We have started to do that and it's satisfying - but it's just the start," Mourinho said.

But seven days later Barcelona strolled past Real in the Champions League semi-final first leg at the Bernabeu, on their way to claiming another European crown.
