Adrien Rabiot looked set for a move to Barcelona, but could Bayern Munich be hijacking their deal for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder?

Rabiot has six months remaining on his PSG contract, meaning he could leave the Parc des Princes on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Sky in Italy reported last week that Rabiot had reached an agreement with Barcelona to move to the Camp Nou at the end of the season in a deal worth £9m a year.

Meanwhile, our colleagues in Germany understand no deal has yet been finalised and that Rabiot's agent, who is also his mother, is in negotiations with multiple clubs - one of which is Bayern.

Sky in Germany also say Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has contacted his counterpart at PSG, Antero Henrique. The pair agreed a move for Rabiot is possible both this month and in the summer.

Rabiot has been banished from playing for PSG after a breakdown in negotiations over a contract renewal and is therefore keen on a move in January.

PSG are also open to letting Rabiot go this month, according to Sky in Germany, as they look to cash in on a player who graduated from their academy.

Sky in Germany understands PSG are reluctant to allow Rabiot to join Barcelona for free due to the frosty relationship shared by the two clubs after Neymar left Catalonia for Paris in a world record £200m transfer in 2017.
