Motherwell 'bullied' Rangers during their League Cup semi-final victory on Sunday, says Chris Cadden.

Louis Moult's second-half brace sent 'Well into their first domestic final since 2011, against Celtic next month.

Motherwell received four of the game's six bookings and Chris Cadden relished the physical contest at the national stadium which saw Rangers' Fabio Cardoso depart the fray with a broken nose.

Cadden said: "We set out to ruffle them up a wee bit and try and bully them, which I thought we did. They surely expected that coming?

"We've got the players to get in about their faces. That's always our game plan. We did that against Aberdeen as well. That's when we are at our best, when we are on the front foot and pressing and closing teams down."

'Well hero Louis Moult, who had a running battle with Bruno Alves throughout, admitted he too had enjoyed the 'fight'.

"It was a very, very physical game and they gave as much as we gave them," said Moult, who was booked along with Rangers sub Eduardo Herrera while Alves escaped a card.

"It was quite equal - look at my eye, look at their centre-half. It was a fight out there.

"I said to Bruno Alves that he kicked out at me and he agreed. I don't know whether I touched him or not. I said it was probably a yellow card for each of us and he agreed.

'Well manager Stephen Robinson was full of praise for his side's battling qualities

"The referee and his officials have got a very difficult job and I thought they did well. They probably just missed that one."

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson claimed his side's superior fitness was a key factor in their victory.

He said: "We knew we were fitter and stronger and would keep getting better and better as the game wore on.

"It was a brilliant finish from Louis [for his second goal], and don't forget Ryan Bowman as well. He was superb alongside him.

"The two of them up there are a big threat, and as long as you stay in games, we have always got a wee chance.
