Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie is mulling over his future

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says he is preparing for showdown contract talks with captain Graeme Shinnie.

McInnes had previously said he wanted an answer in January from Shinnie, who is out of contract in summer.

But the pair have agreed to put talks on hold until after the home games against Rangers, Live on Sky Sports and Queen of the South on Sunday.

"We spoke about getting these games out of the way and maybe getting a bit more clarity on that maybe next week," McInnes said.

"Myself and Graeme decided to make sure we get these games done and then work from Sunday to Saturday next week.

"With no midweek games maybe we can have a chance to thrash it out one way or another."
