Joey Barton remains suspended from Rangers until further notice after attending a formal disciplinary hearing at Ibrox on Thursday, Sky sources understand.
Barton has not played for Rangers since they were beaten 5-1 by Glasgow neighbours Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in September.
In the week following that match, the former QPR and Burnley player was involved in an altercation with fellow midfielder Andy Halliday and manager Mark Warburton.
Barton has been suspended by the club since then, although Halliday has played in all six games, scoring three goals.
The 34-year-old has only played eight times since his arrival at Ibrox during the summer.
Barton was also given extra time to consider his response to a Scottish Football Association charge after being accused of placing 44 bets on games in July and September.
SFA disciplinary rules prohibit players, coaches, club officials and referees in Scotland from betting on football worldwide.
The SFA's judicial panel has agreed to push back the hearing from October 27 to November 17.
He has recently been linked with a return to Turf Moor, but Sky sources insist no discussions have taken place between Barton and Burnley.
Barton signed a two-year deal with Rangers in May, and compensation is likely to be a point of discussion when he meets club representatives.
