Rangers manager Mark Warburton believes his squad is good enough to challenge Celtic in this season's Scottish Premiership.
Warburton has recruited nine players this summer, with a mix of youth and experience to complement the group of players which won the Championship last term.
Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar are the star names brought into the Ibrox, but younger prospects such as Josh Windass and Jordan Rossiter are expected to excite fans just as much.
While it is marginally bigger than the one he had in 2015/16, Warburton believes his squad is too light on numbers and is keen to add more faces between now and the closure of the transfer window.
Even if he doesn't, however, he feels he already has enough quality in place to compete with Brendan Rodgers' Celtic team.
"There is a lot of work going on," Warburton said. "Frank (McParland, Rangers' head of recruitment) and his team are working tirelessly.
"Hopefully we can get one over the line but they have to be the right person. There are a lot of people after the same players.
"We hope we can beat them to it but if we can't get something sorted, the squad as it is looks in good shape."
Rangers' latest addition, Joe Dodoo, came off the bench to score the clincher in their 3-0 win over East Stirlingshire in the League Cup on Friday.
Warburton is happy to have that extra strength in depth but wants more and added: "We had Joe come on and score and also had Waggy (Martyn Waghorn) on the bench.
"The bench is starting to look really strong and the stronger it looks, the better we'll be. We need to have that headache when it comes to selection though.
"We didn't have it last season and I'm not saying we got away with it - far from it, because the team worked so hard - but we need to have that strength in depth.
"We've lost eight but have only gained one more body. The squad is still very light. If we get one or two more in then fine, but they have to be the right quality."
