Harry Forrester says he is delighted Rangers have shown faith in him after signing a new three-year deal with the Championship winners.

The attacking midfielder has impressed since joining from Doncaster Rovers in the winter on an initial six-month deal, scoring five goals in 16 games.

Ibrox manager Mark Warburton confirmed recently that talks with the 25-year-old were under way, and an agreement has now been reached.

"It feels brilliant. When I came here in January, my aim was to be here longer than six months. They offered me three years which is a good show of faith on their behalf," said Forrester.

"At first it was a slow start for myself, catching up with the boys on fitness and the team were doing so well. I wasn't playing at my previous club, so I had to catch up on fitness and sharpness.

"And then coming to Rangers is pressure in itself. You have 50,000 every week cheering you on. They support you but it's a bit of pressure. But of late I have come into the team and hopefully I can stay in the team.

"The manager has just told me to keep going, I have settled in well but I have got to kick on again. It's not going to be easy next year and I will go away this summer and work hard.

"He (Warburton) has been instrumental. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here now. For him to believe in me, to believe I could cope with Rangers, it gave me a lot of confidence and hopefully I can continue to impress.

"I just wanted to come up and do myself justice. I didn't want to let myself down or let the gaffer down. It's up to me to kick on again."

Forrester is confident of Rangers chances in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic this Sunday, live on Sky Sports, following their impressive 4-0 victory over Dundee in the previous round.

"We got off to a flying start and it was against Premiership opposition. That gave us belief that we can mix it up there with the league above and we believe we can get something out the game," said Forrester.

"We believe in the dressing room. We talk day in, day out. We have to keep improving but it's a good test for us on Sunday."
