Kilmarnock v Celtic

James Forrest wants Celtic to get back to winning ways in the Ladbrokes Premiership following their dramatic last-gasp Europa League victory over Rosenborg.

Celtic drew a blank at St Mirren last week, a result which ultimately left them five points behind leaders Hearts after five games of the season.

The Group B opener against Rosenborg on Thursday was a struggle for the Scottish champions, but an 87th-minute winner from substitute Leigh Griffiths gave Celtic three crucial points.

Forrest, who said talks about a new contract at Parkhead were "ongoing", is looking for another win at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Scotland winger told a number of broadcasters: "Obviously it was disappointing last week but we have had disappointing results before and always come back. We have a real good squad and that is what we are looking to do.

"We know we have a lot of different competitions coming up and we are going use our squad. We need everyone raring to go when they play. We want to keep ourselves in all competitions and we need to start again on Sunday."

Killie have won twice in six league outings this season and currently sit seventh in the Premiership standings, though a victory could haul them into the top three spots in the division, should results fall in their favour.

Boss Steve Clarke - who again hit out at referees earlier this week, claiming they have decided 60 per cent of their games this term - has called for "maximum performance" levels from his squad this weekend.

He told the club's official website: "It's always a difficult game against Celtic. We have to play at our very, very best to get anything.

"In training this week that's what we have been working towards. I feel that in the games we have played this year we have been competitive in every game. If we are competitive we can give anyone in the league a game."

Opta stats

Kilmarnock have won just one of their last 18 matches against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership (D4 L13), a 1-0 victory in February 2018.

Celtic are without a win in their last three league games against Kilmarnock (D2 L1), their longest ongoing winless streak against a particular opponent in the Scottish Premiership.

Since going on a nine-game unbeaten run at home in the league between December 2017 and March 2018 (W8 D1), Kilmarnock have lost two of their last four at Rugby Park (W2), and could lose consecutive home league matches for the first time since last November (run of three defeats).
