Celtic will be under pressure against Rangers, says Hoops' Mikael Lustig

Mikael Lustig admits the heat will be on Celtic when they take on Glasgow rivals Rangers in Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final showdown at Hampden Park.

Under manager Mark Warburton, Rangers have gained promotion to the Premiership and won the Petrofac Training Cup over the past week.

And the city rivals are on a collision course following last year's League Cup semi-final which saw the Light Blues escape with only a 2-0 defeat following goals from Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons.

Defender Lustig insists his team are still superior to their neighbours but conceded the weight of expectation will press down heavier on Ronny Deila's men, even though the Premiership champions-elect have yet to hit top gear this season.

Asked if the pressure was on the Hoops, the Swede replied: "Yeah I think so. We have the better players and the better team, so I can see why people would think that. Should we win? I think so.

"We haven't done that good this year. We know we have more to give, that we can play better football, absolutely. I think we have learned now the last couple of games we can still win when we don't play well and that is a positive thing.

"Right now we have not reached the top of our game but I think we're going to get there.

"Last year, Rangers didn't get promotion but now they have done it, so obviously they have probably had a better season. So maybe they have closed the gap."
