Scottish Cup round-up: Dream over for Highland League sides Brora and Cove Rangers

Brora Rangers and Cove Rangers failed in their bids to become the first Highland League side to reach the sixth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Cove lost 3-1 to Ladbrokes Championship side Falkirk and Brora, who knocked out League One Stranraer and East Fife earlier in the competition, were 4-0 losers at Premiership outfit Kilmarnock.

Killie took until three minutes before half-time to claim the lead through Aaron Tshibola. The midfielder finished from close range following a pass by Greg Kiltie.

Kilmarnock's second came from Kris Boyd who found the bottom corner with 58 minutes on the clock, Eamonn Brophy added a third after 76 minutes and Stephen O'Donnell made it 4-0 with eight minutes to go.

Alex Jakubiak gave Falkirk the lead in a frantic start at Harlaw Park with a goal after two minutes but Cove's Mitchel Megginson replied within a minute to level the scores.

The Bairns went back in front just after half-time and then quickly added a third as they took control of the game. Craig Sibbald netted after 46 minutes and Jakubiak grabbed his second two minutes later.

James Forrest's hat-trick fired Celtic into the sixth round on a day made more poignant following the death of former player Liam Miller.

Meanwhile, Motherwell beat Dundee 2-0 with goals from Craig Tanner and Curtis Main. Motherwell went ahead on the half hour when Nadir Ciftci set up Tanner and Main's header with 56 minutes gone wrapped up the tie for the visitors.

Kyle Lafferty scored twice as Hearts won 3-0 against fellow Premiership side St Johnstone. Lafferty fired Hearts in front with seven minutes gone and Demetri Mitchell added a second nine minutes into the second half.

Lafferty claimed his second four minutes later with a close-range finish to put Hearts into the sixth round.

Morton won the battle of the Championship teams 3-0 against Dumbarton. Morton went ahead after 12 minutes when Frank Ross shot into the bottom left corner from an acute angle.

Four minutes after the break Morton added a second through Jack Iredale and Bob McHugh wrapped up the scoring with 10 minutes to go.
