Rangers are assisting Police Scotland with enquiries after their team bus was vandalised before their Scottish Premiership defeat at Aberdeen.

The vehicle had the phrases 'Durrant dived' and 'Ibrox 71' scratched on the paintwork before their 2-1 loss at Pittodrie.

They refer to the deaths of 66 Rangers fans at Ibrox in 1971 when a stairway collapsed and an incident in 1988 which saw midfielder Ian Durrant suffer a serious knee injury against Aberdeen.

A Rangers spokesman said: "The club is disgusted and disappointed by this act of vandalism.

"In particular, the reference to the Ibrox Disaster in which 66 people lost their lives is especially vile. This sort of behaviour has no place in civilised society.
