Adebayo Akinfenwa struck a late penalty to lead high-flying Wycombe to an ill-tempered 1-0 win against struggling Portsmouth after both teams had a player sent off.
Striker Akinfenwa slotted home from the spot eight minutes from time after midfielder Tom Naylor had handled inside the box, as Pompey's woeful start to the season continued at Adams Park.
Wycombe were reduced to 10 men in the 54th minute when Bournemouth loanee Nnamdi Ofoborh was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Naylor.
The incident sparked a fracas on the touchline during which Portsmouth striker Ellis Harrison was also dismissed after needlessly picking up his second booking of the game for a push. Akinfenwa and Portsmouth's Christian Burgess were also booked.
Substitute Brett Pitman came close to snatching a point for the visitors when he headed against the crossbar with three minutes remaining.
The defeat means Portsmouth, among the pre-season favourites for promotion, are still waiting for their first away win of the campaign and leaves Kenny Jackett's side one place above the relegation zone.
