Jordan Rhodes scored his first hat-trick in four years as Norwich edged out League One Wycombe 4-3 in an enthralling Carabao Cup third-round encounter at Adams Park.
After bundling home an Emi Buendia cross for the opener, Rhodes then unleashed a strike from the edge of the box to double the Championship side's lead within 15 minutes.
Wycombe were not out of the contest yet and - after a header struck the bar - Paris Cowan-Hall slotted home from close range.
However, Norwich's two-goal advantage was restored before half-time with Tom Trybull rising high to plant a free header into the corner of the net.
Rhodes completed the 10th hat-trick of his club career early in the second half, sticking out a toe to convert a Buendia through ball.
But Wycombe soon got two goals back, the first coming when Sam Saunders converted from the penalty spot after Alex Samuel was brought down, just after the hour mark.
Then, after a loose ball fell to Craig Mackail-Smith, whose shot was parried, the ball back in was bundled home by Adebayo Akinfenwa in what proved to be a consolation 15 minutes from time.
