Shrewsbury have signed defenders Ro-Shaun Williams from Manchester United and free agent Scott Golbourne.

Centre-back Williams arrives on a two-and-a-half-year deal from United, where he had captained the U23s.

The 20-year-old said: "I feel like I've completed youth football, I've come up from playing for your local team all the way through to the reserves at United. I think I'm ready to be playing men's football.

"I like to play on the ball and defend but pace is something I've got in the locker as well."

Former Reading left-back Golbourne was a free agent after leaving Bristol City at the end of last season.

"I am delighted to be signing," he told Town's official website. "I am really pleased to get back into a club and to have come here.

"This is a club that I have always heard good things about - having a connection with a few guys at Wolves who are from Shrewsbury.
