John Akinde snatched a stoppage-time equaliser as Sky Bet League Two leaders Lincoln grabbed a 1-1 draw against Exeter at Sincil Bank.
The hosts went three points clear at the summit after Akinde wriggled free before burying a left-footed effort to cancel out Matt Jay's fine free-kick midway through the first half.
The hosts created the first opening when Neal Eardley played in Akinde, who shot straight at Christy Pym.
Exeter went ahead when Jay curled a free-kick from the left edge of the penalty area inside the far post with keeper Matt Gilks motionless.
The Grecians might have doubled their lead two minutes later but Donovan Wilson headed over from six yards out.
Lincoln felt they should have had a penalty two minutes before half-time when Bruno Andrade went down under pressure from Kane Wilson, and moments later Tom Pett's surging run concluded with him shooting straight at Pym.
Exeter continued to impress after the break, with Dara O'Shea's effort blocked and Ryan Bowman failing to convert Kane Wilson's excellent cross when it looked easier to score.
The Imps' penalty appeals were waved away again when Akinde went down under pressure from Aaron Martin 15 minutes from time and Shay McCartan's stoppage-time effort was scrambled off the line before Lincoln produced the latest of levellers.
