Callum Wilson has potential to play for England, says Eddie Howe

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has urged Roy Hodgson to hand Callum Wilson an England call-up.

Striker Wilson, 23, bagged his fifth goal of the season in the Cherries' 2-0 home win over Sunderland on Saturday.

Howe insists Wilson is the complete package and he heaped praise on the forward, who was instrumental in their first ever promotion to the Premier League last term.

Howe said: "He has all the attributes a modern-day striker needs and is full of confidence at the moment.

"I would love him to go on and make England appearances. His potential is limitless and he is developing all the time.

"There's never been a Bournemouth player close to being capped for England and I'd like nothing more than that. But Roy Hodgson has not been down here yet as far as I know."

Wilson drove home a powerful low effort to open the scoring at the Vitality Stadium before Matt Ritchie added the second before half-time.

And Wilson's effort added to an earlier hat-trick at West Ham and a strike in the draw at Leicester.

Howe said: "I think he has started very well, there is no doubt about that. The hat-trick at West Ham gave him a lot of confidence and self-belief and he's taken that on to the following games.

"The way he took his goal today was like a seasoned pro at this level, so it's been a good start for him."
