Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes Callum Wilson could play his way into England's 2018 World Cup squad.
Wilson, 25, spent the majority of 2017 out of action after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture - the second of his career - last February.
The striker returned to action in late October and has made 13 Premier League starts since, scoring seven goals.
Wilson made his only appearance for England's U21 side in 2014 and Howe believes he is now in contention for a role in the senior squad.
"I think he's going to be in the mix," Howe said. "He's catching the headlines and doing the business in such a tough and demanding league. I think naturally people are going to look at him. He's a good age and he has a great attitude. He should never be forgotten, I think he is the whole package.
"Let's wait and see. I am reluctant to put any pressure on Gareth Southgate. I don't want to say anything he wouldn't want me to say. I'm just delighted he's back and playing well."
Wilson's three goals in December earned him a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month award.
Howe says the player's comeback from injury has been an inspiration to the rest of his squad.
"The biggest compliment I can pay Callum is that you wouldn't have known he was out for the length of time that he was," Howe added.
"He has come back in superb condition mentally and physically. He still has his energy and is a handful for defenders to deal with.
"A real inspiration for us in terms of the team looking a him and setting an example for others to follow. I'm really pleased for him."
