Bournemouth have signed Emerson Hyndman on a four-year deal after the midfielder's contract with Fulham expired.
However, because the American is 20 years old, the Cherries have agreed a compensation package with the Championship club.
Bournemouth's first signing of the summer will move to the south coast to join manager Eddie Howe's team at the start of July.
Chief executive Neill Blake said: "We've moved swiftly in the window to secure Emerson's signature and we are delighted to have finalised the deal to bring such a promising young talent to the club.
"Emerson is a highly-rated young player and already boasts international experience, so will be a welcome addition to Eddie's squad.
"We now look forward to seeing him in action at the Vitality Stadium in our second season in the top flight."
