Roberto Martinez praised goalkeeper Joel Robles for a special display after his heroics helped Everton beat Bournemouth to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Toffees booked their place in the last eight with a straightforward 2-0 victory at the Vitality Stadium, thanks to goals from Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku.
However, things could have been different had Bournemouth converted a first-half penalty when the game was goalless.
James McCarthy was penalised for handball eight minutes before the break but Charlie Daniels was thwarted from 12 yards by the inspired Robles, who went on deny the Cherries on several occasions in the second half.
And, speaking at his post-match press conference, Martinez led the plaudits for Robles, the long-term understudy of Tim Howard who has risen to prominence in the American's injury lay-off.
"The penalty arrived in an isolated situation where we didn't deal with a corner and the penalty was right full awarded," the Spaniard said.
"That was where we saw a very special performance from Joel Robles. He magnificent in the way he controlled the moment and the way he enjoyed being the goalkeeper for Everton.
"He has been working behind the scenes for a long, long time and it was pleasing to see that performance.
"I have to highlight the role Tim Howard has had in that. Since he has picked up his injury he has had an incredible influence on Joel to allow him to be relaxed, to allow him to be calm and that showed today."
Martinez named a strong side for Saturday's fifth-round tie, a decision perhaps influenced by Everton's 3-3 draw at Bournemouth back in November.
Eddie Howe, meanwhile, made seven changes for the hosts but they did not translate into dominance for the visitors as they struggled to break down a well-drilled Cherries outfit.
And Martinez was left to label his side's attacking display as the worst of the season, adding: "We were really good off the ball in the first half but on the ball it was probably the worst performance we have had this season.
"We were very sloppy, we couldn't use the possession or turn the spells we had into a threatening position. That was very disappointing."
