Chris Hughton admits Brighton are lacking in firepower after watching them fire another blank on the road at Chelsea.
Chelsea won their sixth Premier League game in a row at Stamford Bridge, edging past Brighton 2-0 on Boxing Day.
Brighton sit 12th, four points above the drop, but the Seagulls have lost four consecutive away league games without scoring a single goal for the first time since October 2002.
Hughton has held talks about signing Moussa Dembele from Celtic, according to Sky sources, in order to strengthen his options in attack and when asked if a lack of goals has become a problem, he said: "Yes it has.
"It's something we're working on. Trying to get those balances right - getting the right personnel in the team. All you can keep do is working on them."
After failing to break down Everton on Saturday, Chelsea regained their killer-instinct with second-half goals from Alvaro Morata (46) and Marcos Alonso (59).
It was a familiar sight that broke the deadlock as the Spain striker combined with international team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta, nodding home the full-back's pinpoint cross a mere 40 seconds after the interval.
The Spanish themed victory continued when Marcos Alonso headed in Cesc Fabregas' corner for the second, sweeping the match beyond the reach of the outclassed visitors.
"The first goal can happen as they have great quality and can probe all the time," Hughton admitted.
"We never want to concede that early in a second half but I thought we gathered ourselves after that. But what disappointed me was conceding from a set-play.
"It's a game we were always in - they have such great quality, strength and power - but there were more positives than negatives today."
