Chris Hughton: Brighton dug deep against Swansea
Saturday 4 November 2017 19:24, UK
Chris Hughton hailed Brighton's 1-0 win over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium as a "big three points" as his team stretched their unbeaten Premier League record to four games to move into the top half of the table.
Brighton's in-form striker Glenn Murray made sure of the points for the visitors as he bundled in Anthony Knockaert's excellent cross from close range just before the half hour mark.
Swansea had a couple of opportunities to equalise in the second half, notably through substitute Luciano Narsingh who rattled the crossbar in second half-stoppage-time, but Hughton felt his side were good value for their win.
He said: "Every three points, particularly away from home are always a big three points. I think we learned a fair bit from the West Ham game and fortunately we were able to bring that into today.
"At this moment we have a lot of players available and plenty of competition for places but we have learnt very quickly what it takes to compete in this division and if you aren't able to play at the levels that we have been playing at, it's very easy to get beat.

"I thought it was a good all-round performance from us. Apart from the goal they had probably the two best chances and we had to dig deep but I think we were worthy of the win today."
Murray continued his excellent form in front of goal by scoring his fourth Premier League goal of the season and in doing so found the net for the third successive Premier League game for the first time since April 2015.
"That's what Glenn does," explained Hughton. "He has a knack and in a game where there's always going to be few chances you hope that your striker, whoever that is, can get on the end of those opportunities. I have to say it was a brilliant ball from Anthony [Knockaert] and he thoroughly deserves that assist."
Brighton's win was the first time that they have recorded back-to-back away wins in the top-flight since April 1981 and lifted them into eighth place in the Premier League table.
