Chris Hughton has praised his Brighton side for their response after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Southampton on Sunday.
The Seagulls went 1-0 down early on to a Steven Davis header before Glenn Murray sealed a point for the hosts just after the break.
After the match, Hughton praised his side for their fightback as Brighton made it three games unbeaten in the league.
"The overriding feeling is that when you're down 1-0 so early in the game, you've got to get back into it and I thought we showed great resilience to get through that difficult period and came on to a really good game," he told Sky Sports.
"I think a draw in the end was probably a fair result. It would've been an injustice if we'd lost the game and we deserved to get back into it. We showed a great response to going 1-0 down.
"I thought we were the better team in the second half and if there was a team who was going to go on and win it, it was probably going to be us.
"We'll certainly learn about giving away free kicks so early in the game with a player like James Ward-Prowse in the field, who is arguably as good as anybody in the division at free kicks.
"They are the things we have to learn and that will be the case in every game, but we are playing in the biggest and toughest league. What pleased me most was after conceding so early in the game and the response to that. I thought we responded very well and got back into a way of playing and ended up being the better side."
Murray's equaliser was his third goal in two games following a double against West Ham last Friday, and Hughton said that it was his ability to create for the side in recent games that saw him chosen over the returning Tomer Hemed.
"We need players that are going to work hard for the team and that has to be the most important thing and for a striker or an attacking player, if you can produce moments for us, then that's the reason you are in the side," he added.
"I thought it was a very well executed goal. He still had a lot of work to do with the header and it was one of those ones that as soon as he got to it, we knew it was in. First and foremost though, it's about him working hard. It's been a slow start for him with the injury, but it's good to see him among the goalscorers."
