Chris Hughton is hopeful the Football Association won’t take further action against Tomer Hemed after calling his stamp on DeAndre Yedlin unintentional.
The Brighton boss was speaking after his team's gutsy 1-0 victory over Newcastle, where Hemed netted the winning goal just after half-time.
Hemed added to his goal in the 3-1 home win over West Brom to tie up three more priceless points for Brighton, finishing smartly from Dale Stephens' tee-up.
However, Hemed could have gone from hero to zero if the referee had spotted an apparent stamp on the Newcastle full-back with time running out.
Super Sunday pundits Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry had their say of the incident, with both agreeing Hemed could face retrospective action from the Football Association for his actions. The Brighton striker could be looking at a three-game ban if they decide to investigate.
Hughton was shown the incident in his post-match interview but believed there was no intent on Hamed's behalf.
"My first impression is that there was no intent," Hughton said.
"There's no doubting the contact but knowing the individual there would also be no intent."
Hemed's second Premier League goal sealed the Seagulls' triumph and manager Chris Hughton's first win over former club Newcastle at the seventh time of asking. Brighton moved 13th in the table with their second win of the campaign.
It was a hard fought victory," Hughton said.
"There weren't masses between the two teams but when you are the home team you sometimes get a little bit more in your favour. But the one opportunity we had we took in what was a tight game. We had to dig deep at times.
"We felt the way the game was going there wasn't going to be a lot of chances. We had to makes sure we kept a clean sheet against a good Newcastle side. We then just had to look for those moments, either a bit of brilliance or a bit of fortune."
"We've learnt a lot in these seven games - the points we've got is a decent return."
