Young Celtic defender Josh Kerr will join Brighton when the transfer window opens next month.

The 19-year-old would have been out of contract this summer and will now link up with the Premier League newcomers on a two-year deal after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

He had been with the Scottish champions for five years and played in the UEFA Youth League against the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City.

Kerr will join Brighton's U23 squad and coach Simon Rusk said: "We are delighted that we've been able to acquire the services of Josh for next season.

"He will be an excellent addition to the U23 squad, and his versatility across the back four will be a key asset.
