Glenn Murray has joined Sky Bet Championship promotion hopefuls Brighton in a £3million move from Bournemouth.

The striker has been on loan at The Seagulls since last summer and has been in impressive form with 14 goals in 22 games.

He has agreed a contract until June 2019 with the Championship leaders.

Murray, 33, penned a three-year deal with Cherries when they bought him for £4 million from Crystal Palace in September 2015.

But he was restricted to just six Premier League starts and 13 appearances from the bench during his season at Vitality Stadium.

Murray previously spent four seasons at Brighton between 2007 and 2011 while the club was in League One, scoring 56 times in 136 appearances.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "Glenn has made a big contribution in the first half of the season, not only in terms of his goals, but as a senior member of the squad.

"He has done exactly what we had hoped he would do when we took him on loan from Bournemouth in the summer, and has been a crucial part of our team and squad so far this season.
